Cars [I]
Here in my car
I feel safest of all
I can lock all my doors
It’s the only way to live
In cars
It’ll ring you a bell because it’s the beginning of the lyrics from the Gary Numan song, Cars. These objects come around us for many hours a week, taking us here and there.
During my live as an expat I drove loads of cars, mostly rented though. I remember my first car; don’t, not the Renault Clio I used to drive in Spain, but the Rover Metro I was assigned in UK. It was a white one, full of rust, and I couldn’t believe it had more than 100.000 miles on its dashboard. Hopefully, after about a quarter I was able to start driving a Renault Megane Coupé. Later on, once the lease finished I had the opportunity to chose for the first time in my life which car I was going to drive.
Considering my allowance, since it was a company car, I decided to sign for a Vauxhall Astra in the corporate colour: dark blue. My ‘actual’ first car.
